Last week, MMBC was proud to take part in the Lessons Learned – Careers in Communities: Awareness, Education and Training session at the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA) Operators Summit 2026 in Toronto.
Moderated by Amanda Crozier, with Kirt Dedam as speaker, the session focused on how Indigenous-led training pathways can strengthen renewable energy projects while supporting long-term community economic development.
Kirt shared practical lessons from MMBC’s partnership with Nordex Group to create construction and wind turbine technician training opportunities for community members from Gesgapegiag, Gespeg, and Listuguj.
The conversation highlighted what a meaningful partnership looks like in practice, building local capacity, increasing workforce readiness, and ensuring that renewable energy development creates real opportunities within our communities.
Thank you to CanREA for creating space to share these experiences and to continue advancing Indigenous-led workforce development across the sector.
